Cork County Cricket Club are delighted to secure the services of New Zealander Sam Ward from the Albion Cricket Club in Dunedin as it’s overseas professional for the 2012 season. Sam is a proven top order batsman/keeper with experience at under age provincial level with Otago. Sam will also be undertaking a coaching role for all four adult sides as well as youth coaching throughout the season.
Club Captain, Ross Durity, welcomed the Dunedin native to the Mardyke and stated that “it was vital that the Club filled the void left by the return of Shannon Madden to Australia at the end of last season and we feel that Sam fits the bill. He is a recognised top order batsman with an excellent background in the game at provincial under-age and senior level and his stats show that he is a quality keeper which should make a significant difference to our bowling and fielding effort”. Everyone at Cork County wishes Sam all the best for the coming season.
