It was an extremely positive start to the 2016 competitive season for Cork County as they recorded victories in both Leinster and Munster competitions. A slightly weakened side that travelled up to Kenure to face Rush on Saturday, 30th April, came away with an invaluable 3 run victory thanks to a fine all round team display.
Bank holiday Monday, 2nd May, saw a relatively young Cork County side take on Midleton for a place in the Senior Shield decider against County Kerry. A great bowling display from #CCCC youngsters Brian Kelleher with his first senior 5 wicket haul and speedster Aaron Cawley with another 3 wickets saw County home by 7 runs.

Cork County 256 all out (Grobler 59, Bilal 53, Conway 4-30) beat Rush 253 all out (Doheny 102, Grobler 4-37) by 3 runs at Milverton. scorecard
Munster Senior Shield
Cork County 123 all out (Qassim 45, Grobler 23) beat Midleton 116 all out (B. Kelleher 5-14, A. Cawley 3-15) by 7 runs in another tight encounter at Midleton Town Park.
