Best of luck to Aaron Cawley who will be attending Denstone College for the remainder of the school term on a summer cricket scholarship. The move forms part of a Cricket Ireland Academy backed initiative for the young seam bowler who has a busy summer ahead for club, province and country!
Aaron will train and play with Denstone from mid-April to June under the tutelage of the very experienced Level-4 cricket coach Simon Guy and his performance team.
“Central to the importance of cricket at Denstone has been the recruitment of Director of Cricket Performance Simon Guy, one of the most experienced Level 4 coaches in the country. He has worked for England Under 17 and Under 19 following his 16-year career for Yorkshire and Suffolk.”

Full credit for this initiative goes to Peter Johnston of the Cricket Ireland Academy and head coaches Ryan Eagleson (Ireland U/19’s) and Nigel Jones (Ireland U/17’s) and, of course, Denstone College for arranging this unique opportunity.
Aaron will gain invaluable experience during his stay at the renowned college where, along with his academic studies, he will practice cricket daily with top coaches and have unrestricted access to Denstone’s state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor cricket facilities. He will also play several T-20 and 50 over games a week, including some two-day fixtures.
It’s a rear and unique opportunity but he will miss some important early games this season for his club Cork County, who, after excellent performances in LCU Div 2 last season won outright promotion to Div 1. However, Aaron will return a much stronger player when the college term finishes (and during the mid-term break).
