Cork County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the return of Youth Cricket for the 2021 season. Adult cricket will return once public health restrictions ease, but in the meantime, it is all systems go for children from U9 to U17.
Youth Chair, Pat Donnelly said: “The club has been working hard in the off-season to get ready for a safe resumption of cricket. Despite the pandemic, we had a great season last year with over 70 children training and playing cricket twice a week. We’re looking forward to more of the same this year. with a busy schedule planned.”
Coaches Steve Ross (U14) and Robert Duggan (U17) ably assisted by a talented coaching team including Abdul Jabbar Younus and Len Browne among others have been working with an enthusiastic group of players and parents that has been growing year on year. The children learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy the challenges of cricket in a safe environment in the heart of the city. Children travel from all over Cork to play at the historic Mardyke grounds and the club works hard to create a welcoming environment for players and parents.
The success of the club is down to the enthusiasm and hard work of coaches like Steve Ross and Abdul Jabbar Younus who spend endless hours at the club during the summer. Groundsman Matt Reed has been working hard as always to get the ground in pristine condition and ready for a busy season, and everyone is now eagerly looking forward to the start of the season on April 26th.
