2017 Youth season is almost here!

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017

As you can see from the picture below groundsman Matt Reed has been hard at work on the ground at the Mardyke and we have to say that we are looking forward to the new season which gets underway in a matter of weeks.

Club Registration for the 2017 season takes place along with a kit day on Sunday, 9th April, which will be followed by a Mini Blitz on Saturday, 15th April, at the Mardyke.

At least 3 of our senior youth players will then be selected for a friendly game against Bangor Cricket Club on Saturday, 22nd April, while outdoor training proper begins on Friday, 28th April, at the usual time of 6pm

U14 Challenge Match

28th May 2016

Limerick 48 all out (R. O’Sullivan 2-3, J. van Heerden 5-2) beat Cork County 46 all out by 2 runs at the Mardyke.

In a well contested game, Limerick battled to 48 all out (James 8, Evan 6*) due in the main to good tight bowling from Cork County’s Rian O’Sullivan (2-0-2-3) and Josh van Heerden (2.3-0-5-2).

With 48 to defend Limerick got 2 wickets in the fifth over, followed up with 2 in the eighth. With the score at 19 for 4 the game was up for grabs. A good partnership between H Safi and F Jobi got the score to 32 before Limerick bowled Safi in the 11th over. Limerick conceded another 7 runs before getting another wicket (39 for 6) and the next wicket fell at 45 for 7.

Limerick started the 15th over with a lbw (46-8) before bowling our final batsmen out and winning the match.

The scorecard tells a story of where our batsmen need to work, but very well done to all who played on the day.
