Former Club President Edwin Vincent passes away

Sunday, November 8th, 2015

It is with great sadness that Cork County Cricket Club learned of the unexpected passing of former Irish selector and umpire, Edwin Vincent, on Thursday, 5th November in Cork.

Eddie Vincent held the position of Club President during the early 80’s and acted as the Club’s Secretary during much of the 1970’s during which time he was responsible for the organisation of events such as the centenary dinner and brochure in 1974.

Eddie was a familiar face on the Munster circuit for many many years as a respected umpire at both club and interprovincial level. Over recent years Eddie’s strong support of the game in Munster was still in evidence as he was often seen at matches at the Mardyke.

His nephew Deryck Vincent is still involved in the game with Clontarf CC and is often seen taking great action photos from games around the grounds in Dublin.
