Following on from the inaugural O’Neills All-Ireland T20 tournament which was hampered by inclement early season weather in 2012 the North Down CC cricket committee can confirm that the 2013 tournament will be staged on the 13th and 14th April 2013 at The Green Comber.
Competing for the only All-Ireland T20 title will be Donemana CC current North West Cricket Union winners, YMCA the Leinster champions and Cork County the Munster Union holders alongside the homeside. The tournament will enable teams a highly competitive weekend of early season cricket whilst cementing relations between clubs both on and off the field of play.
North Down captain Ryan Haire commented “ we are pleased to be able to provide high quality early season cricket for all the teams involved and we look forward to an enjoyable weekend. We at North Down CC would like to thank O’Neills sportswear for the tournament sponsorship and their broader support to local cricket.”
As aforementioned the weather interrupted the tournament last year as sides from Brigade CC, Cork County and Merrion CC battled it out for the All-Ireland title. This year promises to be even more competitive and with two pitches at The Green Comber it is hoped that the tournament can be completed as scheduled.
